Aqara smart home sensors and hubs in South Africa

Aqara makes compact smart home devices that work together through a hub or, for some newer models, through Matter and Thread. Our range is built around sensors: the Door and Window Sensor T1 (Zigbee) and P2 (Matter over Thread), the Motion Sensor P1, Vibration Sensor T1, Water Leak Sensor T1 and Temperature and Humidity Sensor T1. For presence detection there are the FP1E, the mmWave FP2, which needs no hub, and the FP300 presence multi-sensor for Thread and Zigbee.

Control devices include the Wireless Mini Switch T1, the Wireless Remote Switch H1 double rocker, the Touchscreen Dial V1, the Dual Relay Module T2 and the Valve Controller T1, along with LED Strip T1 extensions. The Hub M2 ties Zigbee devices together, and the Camera E1 is a 1296p indoor pan/tilt camera with Wi-Fi 6, HomeKit and Matter support.

Building an Aqara setup

Check how each device connects before you buy. Zigbee devices such as the T1 sensors need an Aqara hub like the Hub M2, while Matter over Thread devices like the P2 need a Thread border router in your smart home system. The FP2 works without a hub. Motion sensors notice movement, while mmWave presence sensors can tell when someone is sitting still, which helps with lights that should stay on. If you use Apple Home, Google Home or another platform, confirm it supports the devices you choose.
