Eaton UPS and power protection in South Africa
Our Eaton range is UPS power protection. The 5E Gen2 line-interactive UPS comes in 700VA, 900VA, 1200VA, 1600VA and 2200VA, with USB and IEC outlets, and the 5S 1000VA/600W is another compact option for desktops and network equipment. For servers and critical loads there are online UPS models: the 9E 2000i and 9E 6000i towers, and the 9SX 1000i, 2000i and 3000i, with the 9SX 1000i also in a 2U rack version with rail kit.
Accessories include the 9E external battery modules (72V for 2-3kVA models and 240V), a rack kit for 9PX/9SX UPS, the Gigabit Network Card M3 for remote monitoring and a HotSwap maintenance bypass.
Choosing an Eaton UPS
Size a UPS by watts as well as VA: add up the power draw of what you will connect and choose a unit with headroom. A line-interactive 5E or 5S suits PCs, routers and home offices, giving time to save work and shut down. Online models such as the 9E and 9SX convert power continuously and suit servers, network racks and lab equipment that need clean power. Check outlet types too, as the 5E range uses IEC outlets. For longer runtime, the 9E can take external battery modules. For hours of load shedding backup, an inverter is usually a better fit than a UPS.
