LigoWave outdoor wireless networking in South Africa

LigoWave builds outdoor wireless equipment for ISPs, campuses and estates that need to carry a connection between buildings or across a site. The DLB range includes the DLB 2-90 base station for 2.4GHz with a 90° sector antenna at 16dBi, DLB 5 PRO 90 base stations for 5GHz at 17dBi or 20dBi, and the DLB 5 connectorised radio with two N-female connectors for use with an external antenna.

The RapidFire range is built for higher-capacity point-to-multipoint networks, with a 5GHz PTMP carrier base station and matching carrier subscriber units rated at 600Mbps, with N-connectors and IP67 housings. Power is covered by the RapidFire power supply (802.3af/at, up to 28W) and a RapidFire powering kit with PoE injector, PSU and cord.

Planning a LigoWave link

Choose the band to suit the site: 5GHz offers more capacity and is usually less crowded, while 2.4GHz copes better with light foliage but carries less data. A 90° sector covers a quarter of the area around a mast, so plan several sectors for full coverage, and consider the higher-gain 20dBi model for longer distances. RapidFire subscriber units pair with the RapidFire base station, so keep each network within one family, and use the matching power kit so each radio gets the right PoE supply.
