MikroTik routers and wireless gear in South Africa

MikroTik, the Latvian maker of RouterOS devices, makes up a large networking range in our store. Indoor routers include the hAP lite (also in a tower version with a RouterOS L4 licence), the hAP and hAP ac lite with five Ethernet ports, and the hAP be Lite Wi-Fi 7 router with a 2.5G port. The cAP LTE12 ax is a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 ceiling access point with a micro SIM slot.

For outdoor and wireless ISP work there are LHG 5 and LHG XL HP5 point-to-point CPEs (in 3-packs and 4-packs), the SXTsq LTE4 outdoor LTE CPE and QuickMount Pro brackets for LHG units. Supporting items include single-mode and BiDi SFP and SFP+ modules, the RBGPOE passive Gigabit PoE injector, the GPEN21 smart media converter, RP-SMA Flex-Guide cables and the outdoor Bluetooth tag for KNOT.

What to check before you buy

Choose the LHG model by link distance: the LHG 5 has 24.5dBi gain, while the LHG XL HP5 has 27dBi for longer shots. For fibre, match the SFP to your cable and reach: the range covers 20km single-mode modules, 15km BiDi SFP+ pairs and 80km BiDi pairs, all with LC connectors. BiDi modules are sold in pairs because each end uses a different wavelength.

Check the RouterOS licence level and port speeds too: the hAP lite has 10/100 ports, while the hAP be Lite adds Gigabit and 2.5G ports for faster lines.
