Victron Energy MPPT controllers and chargers in South Africa

Victron Energy is a Dutch maker of power conversion equipment, widely used in solar, backup, caravan and marine systems. Our range starts with solar charge controllers: the BlueSolar MPPT 75/10, 100/15 and 100/30 and the SmartSolar MPPT 100/50 with built-in Bluetooth. Blue Smart battery chargers come in IP22 versions (12/15, 12/20, 24/12 and a three-output 24/16) and IP65 versions (12/15 and 24/8).

For inverter systems there is the MultiPlus 48/1600/20-16 230V inverter. To monitor and connect your system, we carry the BMV-700 battery monitor with a 500A click-and-connect shunt and the VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle.

Sizing Victron equipment

Victron model numbers describe the specs. On an MPPT controller, the first figure is the maximum solar panel voltage and the second is the charge current, so a 100/50 accepts up to 100V from the panels and charges at up to 50A. On a Blue Smart charger, 12/15 means a 12V battery at 15A. Match the battery voltage (12V, 24V or 48V) across your controller, charger and inverter, and keep your panel string voltage under the controller's limit, including on cold mornings when panel voltage rises. IP22 chargers belong indoors, while IP65 models offer more protection against dust and water.
